Greenfield Farm

Over the past year I have made occasional visits to paint trees in the commercial woods of Greenfield Farm near Christmas Common, Oxfordshire. The woods contain a range of trees including oak and ash. The ash grow straight and tall with branching occurring quite high up the tree, a perfect growth for cutting and processing. I worked in an area close to a fenced pig enclosure where the forest floor is kept clear of unwanted growth by a lovely group of pigs foraging, rooting, loosening soil and breaking up sod. The work came to an end in September 2013 and pictures chosen, including the two shown here. The framing, by Ian Lettice, was especially commissioned by Jane and Andrew Ingram using oak from their own woods. Ian skillfully turned the selected plank of wood into fine frames.
